Where to eat in the Anoia and near Montserrat

A short, honest guide to restaurants we actually recommend to our guests. No lists of 50 places: only the ones we know and would go back to.

This is the short list we hand to anyone staying at Can Robira. It's not meant to be an exhaustive guide to the Anoia: these are places we know, where the food is good and the welcome honest. If you want more options, ask us at check-in.

The 6 we always recommend

Raquel's personal pick. They are not ranked: each covers a different occasion.

Piera · Very close

Lonecesito

At Can Bonastre, just 4 minutes from Can Robira. Mediterranean cooking with fresh, seasonal produce and contemporary touches. Perfect for your first meal after arrival.

Masquefa · Traditional

Cal Cuiner

A gastronomic landmark of the Anoia: Catalan and Basque cooking with local produce and menus that change with the season. Warm welcome and a relaxed atmosphere.

El Bruc · Grilled meats

Cal Noio

The grill house of choice in the Montserrat area. Charcoal cooking done patiently, with well-chosen produce. If you're coming for serious meat, this is the place (official site: calnoio.com).

Igualada · Japanese

Niwaka

Right by the Plaça Cal Font. Arguably the best Japanese in the county: careful sushi and sashimi, tempura and ramen, and a quiet minimalist setting. Ideal for a different dinner.

El Bruc / Collbató · Family

Vinya Nova

Old farmhouse at the foot of Montserrat with calçots in season, grilled meats, paellas and their own olive oil. Big tables, terrace with views and plenty of space for kids to run around.

Igualada · Chef-driven

Somiatruites

In the Rec district, in a former tannery. Modern, fun and affordable cooking from the Andrés brothers, with a Bib Gourmand and a Michelin Green Star. For a special meal.

How to choose by the plan

  • First meal after arrival (4 min) — Lonecesito.
  • Long lunch, Catalan cooking — Cal Cuiner.
  • A great cut of meat over coals — Cal Noio.
  • A different dinner, Japanese — Niwaka.
  • With kids and outdoor space near Montserrat — Vinya Nova.
  • Special meal or anniversary — Somiatruites.

Bookings, hours and parking

In the Anoia many restaurants close on Mondays and Sunday evenings, so it's worth calling ahead. Most have their own parking or easy street parking. For groups of more than 8 people, always book 48 hours in advance. If you're staying at Can Robira and need a hand, we can help you call.

And eating at Can Robira

We don't run a restaurant open to the public. We do host private events, company days and occasional open events (calçotada, aperitifs, snail feasts) where food is served. If you'd like to eat at the farmhouse, that's the way: ask us about upcoming dates or book a private day.

Frequently asked questions

Is there anywhere very close to the farmhouse for a meal without travelling far?

Yes. Lonecesito, at Can Bonastre, is just 4 minutes by car and works well for a quick meal after arrival or on a quiet day. For weekends, call ahead to make sure of a table.

Anywhere good for coeliacs or vegetarians?

Somiatruites and Cal Cuiner adapt dishes if you mention it when booking and usually have clear options. If you have specific needs, it's always worth confirming by phone in advance.

And eating with small children?

Vinya Nova is the ideal option: room to run, farm animals, a play area and a broad menu. Cal Cuiner also welcomes families, especially with slightly older children.

Anywhere up at Montserrat you'd recommend?

The monastery complex has a self-service and restaurant (Hostal Abat Cisneros), correct but not memorable. If you have time, come down to eat in the Anoia: better quality and better price.
