Three routes to head out walking from Can Robira

The farmhouse sits at the foot of Montserrat, in the comarca of Anoia. The mountain begins almost at the front door.

A privileged starting point

Can Robira is located on the slopes of Montserrat, within the comarca of Anoia. From here, several trails set off without any need to get in the car.

The Montserrat massif is part of the Parc Natural de la Muntanya de Montserrat. It offers routes of varying difficulty: from gentle walks through vineyards and pine forests to ascents with panoramic views of the Mediterranean and the Pyrenees.

The three routes we describe below have different profiles. Check the condition of the trail before setting out, especially in winter and after heavy rainfall. Bring water, suitable footwear and check the weather forecast.

The 3 routes

  • ROUTE 1 — Camí dels Degotalls. Difficulty: low. Approximate distance: 4 km (there and back). The path winds through holm oak woodland and the characteristic rocks of the massif. Ideal for families with children or anyone looking for a first experience of Montserrat without significant elevation changes. The trail passes by hermitages carved into the rock.
  • ROUTE 2 — Sant Joan Path. Difficulty: medium. Approximate distance: 7 km (circular). Starts from the lower area of the massif and climbs towards the hermitage of Sant Joan. Moderate elevation gain. Offers broad views over the Llobregat and the plains of Anoia. Recommended from spring through to autumn.
  • ROUTE 3 — Traverse of the Pla dels Ocells. Difficulty: high. Approximate distance: 12 km (circular). For experienced hikers. The route follows the ridge of the massif in some sections and demands good physical fitness and orientation skills. The views from the highest points are exceptional on clear days. Not recommended in foggy or high-wind conditions.
